Edinburgh-based artist, Ross MacRae, creates his artwork using charcoal sketches and digital composition. This print was inspired by The Real Mary King's Close and depicts the Old Town of Edinburgh. Edinburgh's nickname was once Auld Reekie, or "old smoky", due to the thick smoke from coal fires that were burned inside the tenements. The print also features the phrase "Gardyloo", which was a warning cry used by Edinburgh's residents before throwing their waste onto the sewage-ridden streets. Supplied rolled.
